Luke Rathborne will be playing every Tuesday night this August. I highly reccomend you stop by once or twice if you are in the city. And the shows are free, so what do you have to lose?
Press Release:
“The 21 year old – Brooklyn-based Maine native will play every Tuesday this month at The Living Room on the Lower East Side, Tuesdays at The Living Room on 158 Bleecker St in the Lower East Side at 10:30 P.M. for a special show every week, “In Search of the Miraculous” featuring a handful of NYC’s best musicians. Rathborne recently recorded material in New York with members of Antony & The Johnsons’ band, The Johnsons. Opening acts for the show will be Rain Phoenix’s “Papercranes” supporting her new album. ”
Reviews:
“..Like Bob Dylan, Lou Reed or Will Oldham, why should you expect anything else but constant haunting, and engaging development.” – TheFanzine.com
“strange… melancholic.. Rathborne has assembled a diverse septet of players for this show” – Village Voice
Hear some tracks at Luke’s Myspace. And here are Directions to The Living Room. Remember, it’s a free show, no tix required.

Friend and muscian Luke Rathborne was just written up in Filter Magazine. If you’re in the city, go see his show at Joe’s Pub tonight. If not, you can listen to one of his songs below. Enjoy.

For those of us who missed out on tickets to the two night, sold out event (and didn’t have the cash to shell out on eBay) a bootleg will have to suffice. Luckily it was recorded with great care and really captures the experience. Big thanks to nyctaper for the hard work, it’s really appretiated.
You can stream them or download the songs for yourself by visiting nyctaper’s website.

Also got to go see Okkervil River front-man Will Sheff do a solo performance at Soundfix. He’s one hell of a performer & an all-around good guy.

Got a chance to go over & see The National play a free show @ South Street Sea Port. It rained off & on for the opening bands (whom I had little interest in) but luckily the weather cleared up for The National. They put on a damn fine show.

waiting in the rain..

The piano / violin / keyboard player was especially amazing to watch.
