Also got to go see Okkervil River front-man Will Sheff do a solo performance at Soundfix. He’s one hell of a performer & an all-around good guy.
Got a chance to go over & see The National play a free show @ South Street Sea Port. It rained off & on for the opening bands (whom I had little interest in) but luckily the weather cleared up for The National. They put on a damn fine show.
waiting in the rain..
The piano / violin / keyboard player was especially amazing to watch.

Arriving undecided to the IFC Center, I had to choose between Darfur documentary The Devil Came On Horseback & This Is England I chose This Is England and was not disappointed. Critics agree: “A near-flawless gem.” – Manohla Dargis, The New York Times
After some last minute packing and a six hour commute, Brittany & I arrived in New York via Fung Wah on Tuesday morning to sign our apartment lease. Unfortunately, Bushwick has gone unexplored thus far since i’m taking care of my schedule & trying as much to stay out of the swealtering heat, but I look forward to getting to know the neighborhood better. Anyhow, more to come once I have a computer at the apartment.
Kevin Drew, frontman of Canada’s Broken Social Scene, is putting out a solo album soon titled Spirit If.. There are 3 new songs of his over at his myspace page that are pretty great. Theres also a video to one of the songs Backed Out On The, which is really fun as well. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to head over to Brooklyn’s McCarren Park Pool on the 28th of August to catch him opening for Feist.
Also, Devendra Banhart has some new songs from his yet-to-be released new cd on his myspace. One is in Portugese, they’re both great. Check ‘em out.
Good stuff.
